ABOUT
SFEDI remains independent in 2007 and fully focused on the learning and support for prospective and existing small and home business owners
During 2006, SFEDI was in merger discussions, but in December 2006 the SFEDI Lead Body and Board decided to continue SFEDI's work, SFEDI centres network, SFEDI standards and best practice setting and endorsing good practice, as an independent, small and home business, owner led organisation. We believe that the SFEDI board and Lead Body (see members list in Contact Us) together with strategic alliances with some key and complementary organisations, are best placed to build on the previous eleven years of the SFEDI brand, work and influence.
Six of the priorities in SFEDI's 2007 - 2010 Strategic Plan
1. To underpin SFEDI Business Enterprise standards and good practice with internationally proven and SFEDI endorsed learning media for prospective and existing small and home business owners.
2. To ensure that all those providing small and home business owners with business/learning and skills support can meet the appropriate SFEDI and ENTO standards (in association with Awarding bodies and SFEDI Regional and National Licensed Centres).
3. To ensure by April 2008 that all SFEDI Regional and National Licensed Centres are able to develop, assess and award all the roles important to small business owner success - SFEDI business adviser, business mentor; social enterprise adviser; business format adviser standards etc. and ENTO trainer, coach, assessorstandards etc.)
4. To reach the limit of 100 SFEDI Centres of Excellence in Entrepreneurial Training by April 2010, with all these Centres supported by a flexible portfolio of SFEDI endorsed learning media, programmes and high calibre personnel.
5. To continue to set Business Enterprise and Business Support standards and associated qualifications strategies, to raise the quality of the learning and skills offer to all those exploring business enterprise, preparing for business enterprise, starting up or owning and running an existing small or home enterprise.
6. To become the leading (on behalf of the SFEDI Lead Body) UK advocate, influencer and educator of how to meet the learning and skills needs of prospective and existing self employed and small and home business owners which will in turn assist government officials to produce workable, accessible and useable policies, programmes and support initiatives.
