National Register of Business Support Professionals

Anyone registering with SFEDI from now on will be eligible for entry on to the National Register. If you've been accredited in the past read this guide for information on eligibility.

Individuals wishing to register on the National Register of Business Support Professionals are required to hold an award which is externally verified by an awarding body. From 1st April 2007 all candidates registering with a SFEDI Centre have/will achieve a jointly badged SFEDI/ILM Award, ILM being an Awarding Body.

For those who registered prior to this date we can now offer an opportunity for you to ‘convert’ your SFEDI Accreditation to a SFEDI/ILM Award. This meets with the requirements of the new register and will allow you access.

We at SFEDI are aware that you have undertaken rigorous assessment through one of our Licensed Centres and therefore we are making the Accreditation of Prior Achievement (APA) application as simple and straightforward as possible.

Your centre will check that your application meets the outcomes and requirements of the national assessment strategy by ensuring:

Validity:

Your evidence will include assessment plans, observation reports and feedback from your assessor

Sufficiency:

Your evidence will include proof of being observed on at least three occasions

Authenticity:

Your assessor reports will confirm that you have met all of the standards

Currency:

You need to show that your experience is as current today as when you originally undertook your SFEDI assessment.

Your centre should hold all of the assessment documentation relating to your prior achievements.

You can claim your APA against the following Awards:

  • Business Adviser Award - if you have met all eight SFEDI core standards
  • Social Enterprise Adviser Award – if you have met the additional Social Enterprise Adviser standards
  • Business Mentor Award – if you have met the Business Mentor standard.

To register for APL or for further information please contact the Centre with which you gained your accreditation.
