Deciding To Exhibit

1. Why are you considering doing the show? Make sure it compliments your marketing plan and the business you want to attract.

2. What do you want from the show? Have a business objective such as getting leads, new product launch and focus on it.

3. Is this the best show for your market? Check out the alternative shows in this market? The biggest shows are not always the best.

4. Who are the other exhibitors? Does the show have a track record?

5. What do you know about the show promoter? Do they have the credibility to deliver what they promise?

6. How many visitors are expected and of what type and how much pre-publicity will there be?

7. Do you have the resources to do the show properly? The proper "resources check"
includes such things as money, time, personnel and product readiness.

8. Is your product and staff ready for a show? Make sure that you are not rushing things as poor presentation or teething troubles kill sales.

9. Do you have a follow-up plan?. You should consider follow up through direct mail, telemarketing and other sources.

10. Are you - show ready? Shows are different, requiring a unique set of skills.

11. Have you done your homework? This is particularly important when you are entering new markets, especially foreign markets.

12. Make sure you have taken all costs into consideration. The cost of the exhibition is just one factor, also equipment higher, staff, travel, utilities, printing, etc.
